Do Something For Others

A young and successful executive was driving down a country side, going a bit too fast in his new car.

As his car passed, a big stone smashed into the car's side door! He applied the brakes and drove the car back to the spot where the stone had been thrown. The angry driver then jumped out of the car, caught the man and pushed him up against a parked car, shouting, "What was that all about and who are you? That's a new car and that stone you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?"

The young man was apologetic. "Please sir... please, I'm sorry... I didn't know what else to do," he pleaded. "I threw the stone because no one else would stop...". "It's my brother," he said. "He rolled off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him up." Now sobbing, the man asked the stunned executive, "Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He's hurt and he's too heavy for me."Moved beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling lump in his throat. He hurriedly lifted the handicapped man back into the wheelchair, then took out his fancy handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh scrapes and cuts.

"Thank God and may God bless you," the grateful man told the stranger. Too shook up for words, the man simply watched the man push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk toward their home.

The damage to car was very noticeable, but the driver never bothered to repair the dented side door. He kept the dent there to remind him of this message: Don't go through life so fast that someone has to throw a stone at you to get your attention..

Saint and The Scorpion

Once there was a saint sitting besides a river. He noticed a scorpion drowning in water. He put his hand below the scorpion to save it from drowning. While taking it out water, he got stung by scorpion. His hand shook & the scorpion was back into the water.

The saint got stung many times while trying to save the scorpion from drowning. There was another man who noticed this incident & couldn't help asking the saint the reason for saving the scorpion who was so ungreatful.

The saint replied, "I was doing my job and so was the scorpion".

Most of times our actions & response towards others gets decided by what response we got or expect to get from others. That is when we do injustice to ourselves & our purpose for existence. Our actions should be led by our goals, irrespective of what treatment we get in return...

Character and Reputation

Long ago, a woodsman saved the life of a leprechaun and was given one wish. The woodsman thought for a long time and finally wished that each of his three daughters find a good husband.
But the leprechaun was full of games. 'How am I to know what's good in your mind? I'll give them husbands, but you can name only one quality and it's got to be the same for all. What'll you have? I can make them clever, strong, beautiful or rich . . . you name it.'
The woodsman said, 'Then give me men of good character.'
The leprechaun wasn't done playing. 'And how am I to know what good character is?'
'Do you have children?' asked the woodsman.
'I do,' said the leprechaun.
'And do you love them?'
'More than life itself.'
'Then give my girls the kind of men you want for your children.'
'Ah,' the leprechaun said . . . 'then you shall have honourable men with kind and loving hearts. And I'll throw in a strong conscience too.'
The woodsman was a shrewd man and a good father. He knew the well-being and happiness of his children depends on the quality of their relationships. The quality of their relationships depends on the quality of the people they are with.
But what if the woodsman was asked what one quality he wants in his own daughters? As a wise father he would again ask for good character.
Whether it's in one's spouse or oneself, cleverness, good looks, and money are nice, but in the end the most essential quality of a good life is good character...
Moral-Always be more concerned with Ur character than Ur reputation,Bcoz character is what U really are, While Ur reputation is what others think U are..

Treat Every Relationship As If It Is Your Last One

From the very beginning, girl's family objected strongly on her
dating this guy, saying that it has got to do with family
background, & that the girl will have to suffer for the rest of her life if she
were to be with him.

Due to family's pressure, the couple quarreled very often. Though
the girl loved the guy deeply, she always asked him: "How deep is your
love for me?" As the guy is not good with his words, this often caused
the girl to be very upset. With that & the family's pressure, the girl
often vents her anger on him. As for him, he only endured it in
silence.

After a couple of years, the guy finally graduated & decided to
further his studies overseas. Before leaving, he proposed to the
girl:

"I'm not very good with words. But all I know is that I love you.
If you allow me, I will take care of you for the rest of my life. As
for your family, I'll try my best to talk them round. Will you marry
me?" The girl agreed, & with the guy's determination, the family finally
gave in & agreed to let them get married. So before he left, they
got engaged. The girl went out to the working society, whereas the guy
was overseas, continuing his studies. They sent their love through
emails & phone calls. Though it was hard, but both never thought of giving
up.

One day, while the girl was on her way to work, she was knocked
down by a car that lost control. when she woke up, she saw her parents
beside her bed. She realized that she was badly injured. Seeing her
mum crying, she wanted to comfort her. But she realized that all
that could come out of her mouth was just a sigh. she had lost her
voice....

The doctor says that the impact on her brain has caused her to lose
her voice. Listening to her parents' comfort, but with nothing
coming out from her, she broke down. During the stay in hospital, besides
silence cry,..it's still just silence cry that accompanied her.

Upon reaching home, everything seems to be the same. Except for the
ringing tone of the phone. Which pierced into her heart everytime it rang.

She does not wish to let the guy know & not wanting to be a burden to
him, she wrote a letter to him saying that she does not wish to wait any
longer.

With that, she sent the ring back to him. In return, the guy sent
millions & millions of reply, countless of phonecalls,. . all the
girl could do, besides crying, is still crying.... The parents decided
to move away, hoping that she could eventually forget everything & be
happy.

With a new environment, the girl learns sign language & started a
new life. Telling herself everyday that she must forget the guy. One
day, her friend came & told her that he's back. She asked her friend not
to let him know what happened to her. Since then, there wasn't anymore
news of him.

A year has passed & her friend came with an envelope, containing a
invitation card for the guy's wedding. The girl was shattered. When
she open the letter, she saw her name in it instead. When she was
about to ask her friend what's going on, she saw the guy standing
in front of her.

He used sign language to tell her "I've spent a year to learn sign
language. Just to let you know that I've not forgotten our promise.
Let me have the chance to be your voice. I Love You." With that, he
slipped the ring back into her finger. The girl finally smiled.

Treat every relationship as if it's the last one, then you'll know
how to Give. Treat every moment as is it's the last day, then you'll
know how to treasure.

Treasure what you have right now, or else you will
regret one day...

The Other Side

A father was reading his favourite magazine and his little daughter every now and then distracted him. Trying to keep her daughter busy,he tore out one page on which was printed the map of the world. He then tore the page into pieces and asked her to go to her room and put them together to make the map again.
Having done this, the father was now convinced he would read his magazine without any dis
turbance and also that it would take her daughter the whole day to get it done.
But the little one came back within two minutes with the perfect map…………

The curious and confused father asked her daughter how she could do it so quickly??
She giggled and said , "Oh…Dad, there is lord Ganesha's face on the other side of the paper, I made His face perfect to get the map right." Satisfied with the answer, she ran outside to play leaving the father surprised...

Moral of the story:

In life there is always the other side to whatever you experience.
When ever we come across a challenge or puzzling situation, look at the other side, you will be surprised to see an easy way to tackle the problem..

Face Difficulties Positively

Read This Story If you are Feeling Hopeless ♥

This parable is told of a farmer who owned an old mule. The mule fell into the farmer’s well. The farmer heard the mule praying or whatever mules do when they fall into wells. After carefully assessing the situation, the farmer sympathized with the mule, but decided that neither the mule nor the well was worth the trouble of saving. Instead, he called his neighbors together, told them what had happened, and enlisted them to help haul dirt to bury the old mule in the well and put him out of his misery.

Initially the old mule was hysterical! But as the farmer and his neighbors continued shoveling and the dirt hit his back, a thought struck him. It suddenly dawned on him that every time a shovel load of dirt landed on his back, HE WOULD SHAKE IT OFF AND STEP UP!

This he did, blow after blow. “Shake it off and step up…shake it off and step up…shake it off and step up!” He repeated to encourage himself. No matter how painful the blows, or how distressing the situation seemed, the old mule fought panic and just kept right on SHAKING IT OFF AND STEPPING UP!

It wasn’t long before the old mule, battered and exhausted, stepped triumphantly over the wall of that well! What seemed like it would bury him actually helped him . . . all because of the manner in which he handled his adversity.

Moral- THAT’S LIFE! If we face our problems and respond to them positively, and refuse to give in to panic, bitterness, or self-pity... ♥
